When Kate Walsh appears on “Grey’s Anatomy,” she is really acting. Because, in real life, the actress is not eating up every man she meets.
The TV star reveals in the next issue of Best Life magazine that she has put her personal life on hold to concentrate on her career. But now that her work is at an all time high, with a rumored TV spin-off in the works, Walsh may be ready to settle down.
She said, “I’m a bit of a later bloomer. I need to do with relationships what I’ve done with work. In the past, I’ve been work, work, work – and then I’m done and ’cause I’m tired and desperate, I’m like…YOU!”
But her relationship choices haven’t all been out of laziness. Walsh admits that she suffers from the common fear of commitment.
She continued, “I realize it’s a juvenile fear, but I haven’t wanted to be in a relationship where I’m doing a downward dog and some guy is just like, ‘I hate you. I hate it when you do whatever that thing is that you do that I hate.’”
However, any potential candidates for her real life love interest don’t have to worry – Walsh isn’t expecting Patrick Dempsey to come and sweep her off her feet.
Of her perfect man, she said, “I don’t need someone with a hot body. He can be fat or overweight and have a belly. It’s very much about style and substance and humor, interest, curiosity and really being smart.”
But getting back into the dating pool has raised some questions for the 39-year-old. The star is struggling with the concept of multiple dating, saying, “Here I am working 13-, sometimes 16-hour days, and trying to date and it’s so new to me to date more than one person at a time. Sometimes I feel like, what am I doing? Am I becoming my character, or is my character becoming me?”
