In a new interview with USA Today, Katherine Heigl, 28, discusses the fallout of the infamous feud and whether she thinks Isaiah Washington should return to work next season. The actress, who’s new film Knocked Up opens June 1, also opens up about her own past pregnancy scares and her hopes to adopt a child one day. Excerpts from the interview below:
Q: Ever thought you were knocked up?
A: ” No, I’ve never had a real pregnancy scare. I’ve had paranoid panic attacks. I’ve always been very, very careful because for me, it’s not something I’d want to have just happen. I would like it to be planned. But there have been those moments where, if I’m just even half a day late, I’m like, ‘ What’s going on?? Noooo! ‘”
Q: Your Knocked Up character has a truly gruesome birthing scene. And you were in the delivery room with your older sister, Meg. That at all impact your decision to have kids of your own?
A: “Oh, yeah. I’ve always planned to adopt anyway, but that definitely reinforced my want to. I’m done with the whole idea of having my own children. (It) doesn’t seem like any fun. I don’t think it’s necessary to go through all of that.”
Q: What has been the fallout of all the drama over that homophobic slur used by Isaiah Washington and you coming to the defense of T.R. Knight?
A: “I was ultimately grateful that it opened up a dialogue. To me, I wasn’t making a political stand. I was making a stand about hurting people’s feelings. It’s very simple in my mind. You do not actively seek to hurt other people’s feelings. I don’t care what their sexual orientation, race or gender. You don’t do that. We are all human beings, part of the human race, and we need to be compassionate and giving and kind with one another. Enough with the Michael Richards. Enough with the Mel Gibson. Enough with this. It’s disgusting. The world is still very bigoted. Go see Borat. I didn’t laugh during that movie. I cried. I was horrified.”
Q: What do you think of Washington’s PSA?
A: “What PSA?”

Isaiah Washington’s character Dr. Preston Burke packed his bags on the season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” but that doesn’t mean the actor is being dumped by the show, his publicist said Friday.
“We fully expect to be back in the fall,” spokesman Howard Bragman said. “The deal’s not done but we have no reason to believe he won’t be putting on the scrubs.”
A furor over Washington’s use of an anti-gay slur had provoked speculation that his job might be in jeopardy. He said the word backstage at the Golden Globe Awards in January while denying he’d used it previously against castmate T.R. Knight.

Buddy TV writes:
There are good season finales, there are bad season finales, and then there was last night’s Grey’s Anatomy finale. The episode couldn’t really be called “bad”, because it wasn’t. It felt like vintage Grey’s Anatomy, save for the fact that it ended in a horribly depressing manner. The reaction across the internet has been bizarre. The quality of the episode hasn’t been called into question nearly as much as how the episode left most of the characters in a depressing state.
You can read about exactly what happened in the episode here in our recap. One of the big questions, though, is how tough should a TV series like Grey’s treat their characters in a season finale? The only character to really leave the episode on any semblance of a high note was Addison Montgomery, but she’s leaving for her own spin-off, Private Practice.
The season finale has always been a tricky little beast. Often, producers and writers will want to put their characters in some sort of peril that gives way to a suspenseful, summer-long cliffhanger. Other times, they’ll resolve a season-long conflict. Sometimes, it is a combination. However, the series finales that are truly successful always seem to have an uplifting note at the end of their finales (unless it is a pure cliffhanger).
Grey’s was a total letdown. Not in quality, mind you, but in the way it treated the characters. Nothing went right, everything was a disaster, and we all now must wait until next year to watch the crew from Seattle Grace sift through their personal wreckage. It’s going to be a long few months for Grey’s fans.

Once Kate Walsh leaves to star in her own spin-off, the set of Grey’s Anatomy just won’t be the same, says her costar Sara Ramirez.
“I think she is amazing, and I am going to miss her to death,” Ramirez said Wednesday at a party in New York for People En Espanol’s “50 Most Beautiful” issue.
“Kate is an enormously talented woman, and I think she is so much fun to watch,” added Ramirez. “I wish her continued success.”
Walsh’s character, Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, is leaving Seattle Grace for a new life in California as the basis for her new show, Private Practice.
Asked about Walsh’s real-life plans to marry Alex Young, a production co-president at 20th Century Fox, Ramirez says: “They’re lovely people. I hope it’ll be a beautiful wedding.”

Grey’s Anatomy’s leading lady Ellen Pompeo, looking lovely in white, is pictured above at the 2007 ABC UpFront party held in New York City a couple of days ago. According to a source who also attended the party, Pompeo said, after having had a few drinks, that there is definitely still tension on set and that she thinks either Isaiah or T.R. might leave the show because of it. George better not leave!

Things are really looking up for Grey’s Anatomy’s (or should I say Private Practice’s?) Kate Walsh - first her own TV series, and now an engagement. The actress and her movie producer boyfriend Alex Young are reportedly engaged after only a few months of dating. “It happened a few days ago. And that’s all I can say. I’m on cloud nine,” says Walsh of the news.
Congratulations!
