T. R. Knight plays George O’Malley

T. R. (short for Theodore Raymond) Knight was born March 26, 1973. He hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota. His first acting role was as a five-year old, when he played Tiny Tim in an annual production of A Christmas Carol.

Prior to Grey’s Anatomy, he is perhaps best known as a member Minneapolis’ Guthrie Theater acting ensemble. His roles there include Richard Miller in Eugene O’Neill’s “Ah, Wilderness!,” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus.”

In New York City, he played Tim Allgood in a stage production of Noises Off, as well as the character of Damis in Tartuffe. He also performed in This Lime Tree Bower and Anto Scattergood. He received a nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in Scattergood.
